Between 150 and 200 Irish soldiers are to be sent to Africa in a peacekeeping mission later this year, an Army spokesman has confirmed.

The soldiers are expected to be based at the headquarters of the UNMEE mission in Addis Ababa and Asmara in Eritrea and will be part of a 4,300-strong UN force.
