The Chief of Staff of the Army, and all members of the General Staff, have extended their sympathy to the family of Ms Joyce Quinn, who numbered three Army officers among her close relatives.
Mrs Quinn was the daughter of Commandant Tommy Wickham, who was killed on UN service on the Golan Heights in 1967, while serving as a member of the UN truce supervision force.
Her brother is Lieut Col Brian Wickham, who serves at Army headquarters along with her husband, Commandant Raymond Quinn.
"The sympathy of all members of the defence forces are with the Quinn family and the Wickham family at this terrible time," said an Army spokesman.
