Gardaí are investigating an armed robbery at a Bank of Ireland branch in Co Wicklow this morning.

At about 11.15am, three men wearing white boiler suits entered the branch in Rathdrum. They were armed with what gardaí believe was a lump hammer and a firearm.

They threatened staff and took an undisclosed sum of money, a Garda statement said.

The men escaped in a black Mitsubishi off-road vehicle with 96 WW plates, believed to be false.

Gardaí in Wicklow have appealed for witnesses, in particular anyone who may have seen the men in boiler suits in the area at about 11am, or anyone who saw the car leaving the area after the raid.
