Kabul - Afghan opposition troops have recaptured the central district of Yakawlang, 70 km west of Bamiyan city, without fighting, a spokesman claimed yesterday. The district has changed hands several times in battles between the ruling Taliban militia and the resistance in the past six months.

Mohammad Habeel, spokesman for opposition military commander Ahmed Shah Masood, said the district fell late on Friday, but a Taliban official in Kabul said they had themselves vacated the area four days ago.
