The redevelopment of a protected structure and its grounds into a wedding venue and glamour camping or “glamping” park, by the hotelier and At Your Service presenter John Brennan can go ahead following the withdrawal of an appeal to An Bord Pleanála.

Last year Kerry county councillors unanimously backed the project at Dromquinna, near Kenmare, allowing Mr Brennan to develop a camping park in woodland alongside a sensitive coastline in the grounds of a protected 19th-century manor house.

Patrick Henderson of Faha had appealed the council’s grant of permission over worries about the impact on the curtilage, walled garden and boundary walls of the Victorian manor.

Mr Brennan said 35 jobs will now be safeguarded.
