The Green Party is hosting a competition for schoolchildren as part of its campaign against the nuclear dump planned for Sellafield.

At the launch of the competition yesterday, the party criticised the Government for its failure to "act decisively" against the underground dump planned for the Irish Sea.

The competition is open to schoolchildren aged 18 or under. It invites entrants to send a poster, poem or letter to the Green Party office by September 20th. The party will then deliver all entries to the Taoiseach, Mr Bruton, on September 25th.

The Green Party says the dump plan has been criticised by leading scientists on the basis that the site is three miles away from an earthquake fault line. There are fears that radioactive waste from it will leak into the Irish Sea.
