The anti-abortion group Youth Defence dropped a 60-foot-long banner from the roof of the Dublin Institute of Technology in Mountjoy Square yesterday to protest against being refused permission by the students' union there to set up a stand for freshers' day. Its chairwoman, Ms Niamh Nic Mhathuna, said she could accept the DIT students' union being "diametrically opposed to what Youth Defence stands for". However, she strongly objected to their "censoring Youth Defence's message".
