Reports that an alleged abortion was carried out by at least one referral agency in Ireland should now focus the minds of all of the need for a new referendum, the Limerick Pro-Life Campaign said yesterday.

Mr Diarmuid O hEalaithe, a spokesman for the campaign, said the loophole created in the 1983 referendum wording by the X case Supreme Court decision must be closed without delay. "The people have a right to have their view on such a fundamental matter of human rights heard."
