Tripoli - The Libyan leader, Col Muammar Gadafy, has called on Washington to solve the Palestinian problem by setting up a new Jewish state in the far northern US state of Alaska, the Libyan media reported yesterday. "The Jewish state was established on the backs of the Palestinians," he said at celebrations marking the prophet Muhammad's birthday in the eastern city of Al-Bayda on Tuesday. "Ever since the Americans started showing sympathy for the Jews, we have been urging them to give them Alaska," said Col Gadafy, a fierce opponent of the State of Israel.
