The Taoiseach has said he hopes the Attorney General's report into the aquatic centre affair will be completed by tomorrow when a Cabinet meeting takes place.
The report is likely to be published tomorrow after the Cabinet meeting. Although stating that the contract to operate the €62 million centre is legal, it is expected to identify significant flaws in the awarding process.
Neither the Government nor the Campus and Stadium Ireland Development board as an entity was informed by its executive chairman, Mr Paddy Teahon, that the company which signed heads of agreement to operate the centre, Waterworld UK, was dormant.
Mr Ahern also said it was important the project was finished in time of the Special Olympics next year.
The chairman of the Special Olympics committee, Mr Denis O'Brien, had said earlier "political wrangling" over the aquatic centre could jeopardise the 2003 games.
"I have complete faith in the ability of Mr Paddy Teahon," Mr O'Brien said. "His supervision of the Campus Ireland project to date has been faultless".
