exclude him from his plans for next month's match in Switzerland - and maybe for ever.

Unhappy with the yearly format of the event, Agassi missed the semi-final defeat to Spain last July and says he is not available until there are changes. Changes he is not expecting to see during the remainder of his career.

"I've felt this way for a while. Until there's a format that works for everybody I don't have it in me any more. I just don't," said the 30-year-old after starting his defence of the Australian Open with a straight sets win over Czech Jiri Vanek in Melbourne today.

McEnroe has taken over from his brother John, who resigned late last year in frustration at not being able to persuade either Agassi or Pete Sampras to commit.
