Aer Lingus flights hit by cabin crew strike action

A number of Aer Lingus flights were cancelled this morning because of industrial action by cabin crew staff.

The airline said flights affected include those between Dublin and Birmingham and Dublin and Frankfurt. Aer Lingus have advised all passengers to contact them to check alternative arrangements.

The row concerns work practice changes sought by the company in return for a 4 per cent pay increase due under the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness. Payment of a further 3 per cent rise due in July under Sustaining Progress has also been delayed by the dispute.

More than 1,000 IMPACT cabin crew began a work-to-rule on September 1st in protest at the company's refusal to pay them the increases.
