Actor Jason Priestley is in a serious condition today after crashing in a practice session for a motor race.
Priestley's car slammed into the outer concrete wall of the second turn during a warm-up session for the Kentucky 100.
"Priestley has fractures to both feet, a closed head injury and a fracture of the thoracic spine," Mr Henry Bock, director of medical services for the Indy Racing League, said in a statement.
The 32-year-old from Vancouver, Canada, was airlifted by helicopter to hospital. Doctors had said in a statement earlier that Priestley was "stable and responding".
