A surgeon has withdrawn his High Court actions against the VHI and representatives of a private hospital in Co Westmeath over the withdrawal of VHI cover from the hospital.

Dr Roy Cazabon, of Sycamore Drive, Taylor's Hill, Galway, had sued the VHI and representatives of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady, owners and managers of St Francis Medical Centre, Ballinderry, Mullingar.

In court yesterday Mr Kevin Feeney SC, for Mr Cazabon, said a sum of money was being paid by the VHI as a contribution towards the costs and expenses.
