An action by a printer who claimed he went into a Dublin hospital for a cardiac operation and emerged with extensive paralysis of his right leg and urological problems, has been resolved at the High Court.
When the case was called yesterday the court was told it could be dismissed against all the defendants with no further order.
Mr Joseph O'Connell (74), Walnut Lawns, Griffith Avenue, Dublin, brought his action against Alfred E. Wood, surgeon; John R. MacCarthy, anaesthetist and the Mater Private Hospital. The defence denied negligence.
When the hearing opened, it was claimed Mr O'Connell went into the hospital in July 1989 for a cardiac operation and emerged with extensive paralysis of his right leg and serious urological problems.
