The Soldiers of Destiny will gather for a big rally in the RDS next Tuesday evening. Some 600 deputies, senators, local authority members and the national executive will hear a state-of-the-party, if not of-the-nation, address from the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, and the Minister for the Environment, Noel Dempsey will meet group leaders, whips and secretaries to give them a run-down on the recent elections.
FF has been two years in office and Ahern will list its achievements and aims and urge its members on for another three years of power. There will be pep talks and backslapping and very little criticism. Indeed, much like an ardfheis without the country tuning in. Then, after the August break, the Parliamentary Party will gather in Galway for a two-day think-in like the one they had in Cavan last year.
