The 999 emergency number is back in operation from landlines in Northern Ireland after being disrupted for several hours due to a technical fault.
BT said yesterday: “As a result of a potential hardware problem at one of our main processors, situated in Belfast city centre, a number of customers across Northern Ireland are experiencing disruption to their normal service.
“A full team of engineers are currently on site and are working hard to restore full service as a matter of urgency.”
Police said last night normal service had been resumed.
