The Council of EU Budget Ministers yesterday agreed to provide 100 million ecu

The Council of EU Budget Ministers yesterday agreed to provide 100 million ecu

(approximately £73 million) for the Special Programme for Peace and

Reconciliation in Northern Ireland.

Ireland was represented at the Council by the Minister of State for Finance,

Mr Martin Cullen. Eighty per cent of the funds are spent in Northern Ireland, and the rest in border counties.
