Gardaí recorded a total of 346 drink-driving incidents among motorists stopped over the May bank holiday weekend.
The figure for the four days between Friday May 4th and Monday May 7th inclusive is almost as much as a normal weekly total.
Gardaí said that in the seven days between April 30th and May 6th, 376 people were detected drink driving.
