€300,000-worth of cannabis seized in Limerick raid

A man is still being questioned in Limerick today over the seizure of cannabis with an estimated value of 300,000 last night.

A man is still being questioned in Limerick today over the seizure of cannabis with an estimated value of 300,000 last night.

Gardai made the seizure at around 8.30 p.m. on the Ballysimon estate in the city.

The 34-year-old, who is being questioned at Henry Street under the Drug Trafficking Act, can be held for seven days without charge.

Drugs Squad officers, who arrested the man as he left the house in a car,
resumed their search of the residence this morning.

One officer said: "It's one of the bigger seizures we've had in Limerick in
recent times and was the result of an ongoing surveillance operation."
