In Limerick, a 36-year-old man was arrested on Friday following the search of a house in Moyross. Gardaí seized just over 2kgs of heroin and a small amount of cocaine with a combined street value of €500,000.

The man was arrested at the house. He was later released and a Garda spokesman said a file was being prepared for the DPP.

A second operation in Co Laois on Saturday resulted in the arrest of two men in their 20s.

They were detained at Portlaoise Garda station after officers seized heroin with an estimated street value of €300,000.

One of the men has since been released.
