Berlin - Three thousand Germans streamed into the refurbished Reichstag yesterday to see the building which will house the new seat of German democracy later this year.

The interior of the 19th-century structure was destroyed by a mysterious fire in 1933, which helped usher in the Nazi dictatorship. But topped by a new a glass-and-steel cupola, it is now bathed in light when the sun shines through the dome.
