TIRANA - Twenty seven people, including 12 children, died when ammunition supplies exploded yesterday in a tunnel under army control in Qafre e Shtabes, 60 kms north of Tirana, a local official said.

Mr Aviz Dishani, the senior official of the nearby village of Feliz, said that 13 young people aged between 18 and 25, 12 children aged between eight and 12, and two women entered the tunnel which served as a munitions depot where they intended to dismantle shell casings to sell as scrap.
