A 15-year-old boy who evaded 10 Garda cars during a west Dublin chase has been given two years' detention

A 15-year-old boy who evaded 10 Garda cars during a west Dublin chase has been given two years' detention. The patrol cars chased the stolen car along the Long Mile Road, in Dublin, before the boy escaped down the M50 motorway.

He pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Court to stealing a car on St James's Walk, Dublin, on January 2nd, 1999.

Judge Frank O'Donnell said that having considered the evidence, he had no choice but to send the defendant to Oberstown Boys' Home.
