A Tallaght man who rammed a stolen car into a garden wall injuring two girls has been given two years' detention at St Patrick's Institution.

Sgt Francis Lee told prosecuting counsel Ms Mary-Ellen Ring BL the wall fell on one of the girls crushing her legs and pelvis. The other girl suffered a broken ankle. Both were six years old.

Wayne Harte (19), of Cloonmore Lawns, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to dangerous driving causing actual bodily harm and driving a stolen car on July 12th, 1997, at Kiltalown Road.

Judge Elizabeth Dunne disqualified him from driving for 10 years.
