Two more workers were killed in industrial accidents yesterday, bringing the toll this year to 11, the Health and Safety Authority said.
A 19-year-old man died when he was trapped under a concrete block on a construction site at City West, Rathcoole, Co Dublin. In the second case, a 47-year-old man was killed at an engineering works at Clane, Co Kildare.
Both accidents were indicative of the grave crisis now facing Irish industry, Mr Eric Fleming, the SIPTU construction secretary, warned.
