NEW YORK - A Los Angeles woman and an alleged male accomplice, accused of trying to extort $40 million from entertainer Bill Cosby, agreed yesterday to remain in prison until they can propose a bail package.

Autumn Jackson (22) and Jose Medina (51), of Ohio, were arrested on Saturday on charges that they demanded money from Cosby to refrain from selling a story alleging that Jackson is the entertainer's illegitimate daughter, to a tabloid newspaper.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan said there was no evidence the scheme was connected with the murder of Cosby's son Ennis last week.
