£2.3m for Special Olympics group

The committee set up to bring the Special Olympics to Ireland in 2003 will receive £2.3 million from the Government next year to assist it in its efforts to secure private-sector funding for the games. The Government has agreed an overall contribution of £5 million to "assist in the holding of the Games".
