A Chinese take-away owner and his partner were held hostage in their home in Limerick by three masked raiders early yesterday morning.

Mr Leo Boy, owner of the Great Wall take-away at Pepper's Corner, Thomondgate, arrived home to Caherdavin Meadows at 1.30 a.m. and he and his partner were confronted by two youths in their late teens wearing balaclavas and gloves. One of them had a sawn-off shotgun.

They locked the couple in their front room and got away with £2,000 after the house was searched. The couple's car was also taken and later found burned out in Moyross.
