Two international services companies will create 115 jobs at the Shannon Free Zone, the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise Trade and Technology Ms Harney announced today.
US company, Travelsavers International, will create 65 jobs in a new European operations centre and Pacific Network Services (Europe) Ltd is expanding its operation in the Shannon by creating an additional 50 jobs.
Travelsavers sells travel products to both the corporate and leisure travel sectors.
Pacific Network Services, a Canadian-based multinational, established an operation at Shannon in January 2001, employing 20 people, to provide payment processing services to the European direct marketing and mail order industries.
Ms Harney described the developments as "a tremendous boost for Shannon and a shot in the arm for the economy as a whole".
In a reference to a series of recent job loss announcements, she added "We went through a tough time in the latter part of last year, but I believe this is another indication that we have turned the corner."
With nearly 8,000 people employed, the Shannon free zone is one of Ireland's leading business centres.
