The 42-bedroom residence on Adelaide Road offers cosy shoebox rooms and spacious suites, all created by architect Grainne Weber. Guests can expect eclectic design, with marble mosaic bathrooms stocked with Replica by Maison Margiela Paris products and a residents-only dining option in their Garden Room. The townhouse also has an art-deco inspired bar, The Gin and Tea Rooms, offering a selection of Ireland's bespoke craft gin. For rates visit

Little Fairies

The Johnstown Estate has launched a special Fairy Afternoon Tea to coincide with the opening of their Fairy Trail. Little ones will love the miniature green macaroon toadstools, meringues in the shape of white-dotted, red-capped mushrooms and pixie logs made from brandy-snap cannoli, filled with chocolate cream and sprinkled with pistachio crumbs. Indulge from now until the end of November from €50 for two. Afterwards, pull on a pair of their complimentary Dubarry boots and explore the new trail spread across 120 acres. Visit for more.

Oktoberfest West returns to Westport House this weekend for a celebration of beer and bratwurst. Irish beer-makers Mescan Brewery along with Jack & Eddie’s sausage-aficionados will keep guests fuelled, while German and Irish folk tunes will be provided by a selection of groups and DJs.
