How would you describe your style?I'm classic with a sporty twist but, like most people, it varies depending on my mood and the occasion. I'm not really a slave to fashion, but if there's a particular trend I like, I'll try to work it into my wardrobe in a subtle way. My style has definitely evolved as I've got older – I'm clearer about how I want to look.
Whose wardrobe do you most covet?Gwen Stefanis.
What is your most precious possession? My Nikon camera – it rarely leaves my side. I'm quite a sentimental person and I'm obsessed with surf photography, which is all about timing. At the weekend you're most likely to find me in my wellies by the sea, snapping away.
What's the most expensive item you own?I think my engagement ring was quite dear, but I'll never really know how much it cost. I'm not a hugely materialistic person – I've never lusted after a Chanel bag or designer shoes. I'd rather spend my money on nice food and holidays. My camera lenses are pretty pricey, though.
What's your best bargain buy?It depends on your idea of a bargain, really, but I picked up a beautiful, handwoven rug in Morocco for €100. I think that's a pretty good deal. Being a Scot, you'd expect me to be a sucker for a bargain but I actually hate rummaging and I'd happily pay a wee bit more to avoid the hassle. My mum would be very annoyed if she read that.
Are you a heels or flats gal?Flats, every time. I hate heels. Even when I was a student and used to go out partying in seven-inch platforms, I'd be in my bare feet halfway through the night. I live in Converse, which I think work with most looks. I also think flat leather boots are much more stylish than uncomfortable high heels.
Handbags or shoes? They can each make or break a look. I like bags, but I'd never spend more than €100 on one. I've bought a few bags in Warehouse recently and I get loads of compliments on them – they look expensive but are really affordable.
Do you have a favourite designer?Christopher Kane is amazing. He's quite experimental but, unlike many other designers, his clothes are wearable, too. I'm also a huge fan of [Irish designer] Sinéad Doyle. Her designs are gorgeously structured.
What's your favourite place to shop?Warehouse is number one, closely followed by Zara. I also really rate Marks Spencer's Limited Collection. If I'm feeling brave and, crucially, energetic, I'll pop into TK Maxx.
Do you shop online?I wear a lot of comfy, surfer clothes and I'm a big fan of Volcom so I shop at extremepie.comquite a lot. It has a great selection for women. I also bought all of my swimmer for my honeymoon at figleaves.com . It was pretty pricey, but if you're lucky you can nab a steal at theoutnet.com.
Favourite film, book, album? My favourite movie is Marley & Me. I have a golden retriever called Daisy (pictured below) who I love to bits, so I can't watch the end without having a wee cry. Favourite book Anything by Ian Rankin. I'm reading The Impossible Dead at the moment. My favourite album of all time is Pearl Jam's Ten. Eddie Vedder has the greatest voice.
What's your fail-safe Friday night outfit?Genuinely distressed jeans, a cute T-shirt and Converse.
Are you a disciplined shopper or do you buy indiscriminately? The latter, definitely. But I do bring stuff back.
