Routes to avoid around the country
DUBLIN:
Monday, October 31st, Bank Holiday, the Samhain Dublin's Halloween Parade takes place in North Wall Quay area. Main assembly at 6:30pm, best viewing at Mayor St.
From Friday, Thornhill Road closed at junction with new Northern Roundabout on Fassaroe Lane, for completion of realignment of Thornhill Road.
Ashtown Gate closed from 10am until 4pm daily for works on gate.
Roadways on north and east side of square in St Anne's Park, Shankill closed. There is an alternative route via south side of square.
Hillcrest Road closed at Kilgobbin Road for roadworks. Alternative route via Kilgobbin Road, Enniskerry Road and vice versa.
From 11am on Friday November 4th until 6pm Monday November 7th, Peamount Rd closed between Loughtown Rd and Newcastle Village junctions, for emergency drainage works on Peamount Road.
KILDARE:
Castlewarden North Junction closed with N7 Dublin-bound, for N7 Naas Road Widening and Interchanges Scheme. There is an alternative route via Ardclough Road (L6021) junction with N7.
MEATH:
Daytime works on N2 north of Ashbourne, expected to continue for four weeks. Delays expected.
LAOIS:
Works on N7 Main St, Mountrath from 6.30am until 7pm. Southbound traffic diverts at Togher, Portlaoise, then through Abbeyleix, and Ballcolla emerging at Derin Cross. Northbound traffic diverts at Derin Cross, follows the same diversions northbound.
CORK :
Shandon Street closed inbound from Cathedral Road to Church Street, for Shandon Street Urban Renewal Scheme.
The Guinness Jazz Festival, Ireland's biggest and most prestigious jazz event takes place from October 28th to 31st. Traffic on all major routes to Cork experience extra traffic volumes annually for this festival. Allow up to two hours on top of estimated journey time depending on time of travel.
KERRY:
Roadworks and traffic restrictions in place on N86 at Blennerville, Tralee. Works on N86 at Blennerville from Station House Restaurant & Bar to centre of the village. Use alternative routes.
Roadworks on N22 from Ballycarthy Roundabout to Beallagrellagh, Tralee. Use alternative routes.
GALWAY:
Galway Races on October 30th and 31st. Race course is at Ballybrit, off Bothar na dTreabh in Galway city. Expect delays.
TIPPERARY:
Works on N7 at Boher on Nenagh side of Birdhill. Delays expected.
WATERFORD:
Traffic restricted to one-lane at Youghal Bridge on N25 from 9am until 4pm daily. Disruptions expected.
NSC SAFETY CAMPAIGN:
The National Safety Council has launched its winter road safety campaign 'LOOK OUT! STAND OUT' targeting vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists who are at particular risk.
