Castlethorn plans 626 homesJoe O'Reilly's Castlethorn Construction is to apply to Meath County Council for permission to build 374 houses, duplexes and apartments in Dunshaughlin, Co Meath, on a 39.5-acre site in the townlands of Roestown, Cooksland and Readsland. This would involve providing a temporary water treatment tank.

An Bord Pleanála turned the developer down in November for a €90 million development in Dunshaughlin of 264 houses and apartments due to problems with the water supply. The developer challenged the county council's view that the absence of details addressing "concerns in relation to the provision of an adequate potable water supply to serve the proposed development" meant that "the proposal is considered prejudicial to public health".

Meanwhile in Pelletstown, Dublin 15, Castlethorn is looking for permission from Dublin City Council to build a residential and commercial scheme.

This would include 252 apartments and duplexes in five blocks, one 15 storeys, with winter gardens and two communal roof terraces, an area with shops, crèche, office space, 333 car-parking spaces, and communal open space areas between blocks and a public plaza.
