Swedish pros tee off at Killeen

KILLEEN Castle has been quietly working away to up its profile in international golf circles and it looks to be working

KILLEEN Castle has been quietly working away to up its profile in international golf circles and it looks to be working. This week a group of golf pros from Sweden visited the castle. The pros – from various golf clubs in Stockholm and the south of Sweden – are important influencers who organise golf breaks and holidays overseas for their members each year.

With the Solheim Cup taking place in Killeen next year Tourism Ireland will be exploiting every potential promotional opportunity in Sweden and other golf-mad countries to capitalise on the event.

The drive will be good news for buyers of the houses already built around the golf courses at Killeen. Many of these have been snapped up in recent months either by couples with small families capitalising on the offer of free family membership, or those trading down wanting a lifestyle change. Sherry FitzGerald New Homes and developer Castlethorn are selling the remaining houses at around €475,000 each.
