A planning application has been lodged with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for the development of Glencairn, the former residence of the British ambassador at Murphystown Road, in south county Dublin.

The proposal to develop an office park on part of the extensive grounds was lodged by the Galway-based partnership of John Lally and Bernard Duffy, of Quay Street, Galway. Permission is being sought for over 375,000 sq ft of offices and office-based industry in four blocks, ranging in height from three to seven storeys on a site of 7.5 acres. Both the three-storey and seven-storey blocks will have an additional penthouse.

The development includes construction of a section of the Murphystown Parallel Access Road. The application also makes provision for the redesign and relocation of the Murphystown roundabout and the realignment of Leopardstown Road.

There is to be a new vehicular access to a 996-space car park on three underground levels. An Environmental Impact Statement accompanied the application.
