Mespil Hotel plans more bedrooms, and apartments

Three years after its opening, the Mespil Hotel at Mespil Road, Dublin 2, is planning a major expansion. Lee Kidney's hotel has sought planning permission to provide an additional 97 bedrooms on top of the 153 already available. Seven two-storey apartments are also proposed for a site at Fleming's Place, and additional space is to be provided for the bar and restaurant. The planning application also involves the demolition of no 61 Mespil Road and numbers 2 to 9 Fleming's Place. And in west Dublin, Captain David Woodnutt, Gatelodge, Ranelagh Gardens, Dublin 6, has secured planning permission for a tenbedroom hotel at the 12th Lock along the Royal Canal at Navan Road, Castleknock, Dublin 15.
