Lucan shopping centre attracts key money

A NEW neighbourhood shopping centre being developed by Ballymore Homes at Ballyowen, near Lucan, in west Dublin, has attracted key money from three of the tenants due to open for businesses. A pharmacy and a fast-food outlet are each paying £80,000 for their new units, while a video rental operator has agreed to pay £40,000 for the leasehold interest in another unit. The pharmacy and the fast-food trader will each pay rents of £20,000 per annum for the 800-square-foot units. The eight other shops have been let for use as a Chinese restaurant, newsagents, coffee shop, bicycle sales, children's clothes, dry cleaners, fruit and vegetables and a medical centre. A bank has also booked space for an ATM. The anchor tenant will be Euro Spar, which is understood to have paid around £900,000 for an 8,000-square-foot supermarket. Gunne and Harrington Bannon are joint agents for the shopping complex, which is located in an area where thousands of new houses have been built. A new bar is also planned for an adjoining site.
