Hooke & MacDonald is opening show units for the first time today at Archers Wood, a high-tech new apartment development at Blanchardstown, Co Dublin. Owners will benefit from the latest technology, with wiring for plasma screens and a broadband package on offer. At no extra cost, owners can link their mobile phone to a system controlling electrical appliances, enabling these to be operated by remote control.

This innovative Laragan Homes scheme is located just beyond Blanchardstown Town Centre, at the Clonee turn-off and not far from the intersection of the M50 and N3. A total of 93 units are on offer this week, providing plenty of choice for potential buyers.

One entire block of apartments selling from plans comprises 60 one and two-bedroom apartments, priced from €199,000 for 53 sq m (570 sq ft) one-bed units and from €228,000 to €254,000 for two-bedroom apartments of up to 83 sq m (893 sq ft).

In addition (and with showhouses on view) are 25 three-bedroom townhouses of 110 sq m (1,180 sq ft) priced from €320,000 to €325,000. Eight two-bedroom townhouses of 93 sq m (1,000 sq ft), starting at €263,000, are likely to go quickly.

The townhouses will be ready to move into from November next onwards. Apartments are expected to be completed by summer 2005.

The apartments and townhouses are bright and modern in design, with decked balconies, spacious communal areas and good landscaping.

Standard features at Archers's Wood include decked balconies, underground parking, good-sized bedrooms and smart bathrooms with floor and wall tiling. Internal doors, skirting and architraves are ash veneer.

Custom-designed kitchens include oven, hob, grill and steel extractor hood, tiled floors and steel surrounds. Owners can choose from a range of polished granite worktop surfaces, unit door finishes and accessories.

But its the technology that will impress. The development incorporates technologically advanced IT 'smart' home wiring allowing remote control operation of electrical appliances at the push of a button. An entertainment package is available at a monthly cost of just under €40, utilising pre-wired broadband technology.

Previous projects by developer Laragan Homes include Skelligs Court at Waterville and Temple Court in Santry.
