Joe the Swineherd by Walter Frederick Osborne, estimated at €60,000-€80,000, failed to sell – as it did last summer at Bonhams in London where it last appeared. Among other lots that failed to sell were Ocean Frequency (Diptych) by Donald Teskey (€40,000-€60,000); Tree at Cogry, Co Antrim by Basil Blackshaw (€10,000-€15,000) and, Souvenir of St Valery [Lavage] by Hughie O’Donoghue (€6,000-€8,000). By Drumcliffe Strand, Long Ago €80,000 (€80,000-€120,000); Bush Telegraph by Sean Keating €57,000 (€60,000-€80,000); The Birds are on the Move by Jack B Yeats €55,000 (€60,000-€80,000); Grand Canal Dock, Ringsend by Paul Henry €27,000 (€20,000-€30,000); The Dung Hill by Gerard Dillon €26,000 (€15,000-€20,000); Seated Woman by Roderic O’Conor €24,000 (€15,000-€25,000); Portrait of Sir Robert Williams by Sir William Orpen €8,000 (€8,000-€12,000); Autumn Flowers (watercolour) by Mildred Anne Butler €3,300 (€2,000-€3,000); and, Presents for the Priest by Howard Helmick €1,500 (€1,500-€2,000) [see pic above]. Sunday (June 12th) Hegarty’s Auction Rooms, The Bypass, Bandon, Co Cork. Antiques auction at 3pm to include contents of the Old Rectory, Douglas. Viewing begins on Friday (June 10th).

Forthcoming Fairs Saturday and Sunday (June 4th & 5th) Lismore Opera Festival Antiques Fair, Community Hall, Lismore, Co Waterford. Daily 11am - 6pm.

Sunday (June 5th) Toy and Train Fair, Talbot Hotel, Stillorgan, Co Dublin. 10am-3pm. Dealers offer collectible toys, model trains, film posters, comics and Star Wars memorabilia.
