A souvenir from your west Cork holidays

Next weekend, Hegarty Fine Art Auctioneers in Bandon hope to attract holidaymakers in west Cork to a sale on Sunday (July 20th) at 4pm. Auctioneer Ted Hegarty said the auction includes the entire contents of Listarkin House, Union Hall, Co Cork, the former residence of well-known collector Peter Moseley, "a personality fondly remembered by everybody in the antiques trade in Co Cork". Moseley died earlier this year and among the highlights of his collection going under the hammer are: a 20-piece hand-painted Worcester dinner service signed by James Stinton (€4,000-€6,000); a silver coffee pot made in London in 1789 (€1,000-€2,000); a "rare" 17th-century silver nutmeg grater made in London in 1690 (€800- €1,200); and a Killarney davenport (€7,000-€10,000). Viewing begins on Wednesday at the saleroom.
