Dublin is world-renowned for its Georgian fanlights, yet all too often these delicate artifacts are needlessly replaced rather than sensitively repaired, according to the Dublin Civic Trust and the Irish Georgian Society. The two groups have got together to host a one-day seminar on fanlights next Thursday, January 21st, to spread more knowledge about their detailing and construction and give practical advice on how to maintain them.

Speakers include John Sambrook, a London-based fanlight maker, and Nessa Roche, architectural historian, who recently completed a PhD thesis on windows. To book, telephone the IGS at (01) 676 7053 or the Dublin Civic Trust (01) 475 6911.
