POST-NAMA land will see relief in many areas not widely covered during the recession. Solicitors, in particular, will welcome a revival in conveyancing, the bread-and-butter of many practices. Notice how the Law Society was forced into radio ads to shift awareness to other areas of expertise offered by your local solicitor – a campaign provoked by the severe downturn of property conveyancing.
Probate especially will be revived, as thousands of wills of deceased clients which contained property bequests were on hold. Many solicitors will tell you of hefty files of property assets weighing on their shelves, undistributed. Doubtless, many potential inheritors will look to speedy resolution of wills and probates, once the market regains momentum. We know of many cases of substantial properties left among siblings, who agreed not to sell until better times. These can be counted in many hundreds – another overhang of properties waiting to be released. In the vast majority of cases, they have to be sold to settle a will. Clearly bargains await the brave.
