Bag a bargain at disposal auction

WILSONS AUCTIONS on the Naas Road is holding a general disposal sale this Saturday to include display furniture – sofas, tables, armchairs and chests – from the Jim Langan chain which closed in March.

There are no reserve prices and, like most auctions, there's a chance of a genuine bargain, generally for those who are patient and prepared to put in time viewing and staying for the sale. The catalogue can be viewed online from tomorrow and there is also viewing on site tomorrow from 10am to 5pm. The sale includes a wide range of other items, such as office and kitchen furniture.

The firm holds regular disposal auctions, often twice a month so it's worth checking the website. It works on behalf of the majority of insolvency practitioners in Ireland and the UK. Last week it sold a large number of kitchens and a few weeks prior, a consignment of bathroom furniture was auctioned.

You need to register before bidding: this requires either cash or a bank draft of €500. If you buy nothing this will be refunded in full. Otherwise, the money will be offset against items purchased.

The auction starts on Saturday at 10am, people can register from 9am on the morning of the sale.
