£50,000 bond plea to root out rogue auctioneers

The IAVI is trying to root out rogue auctioneers - not that there are any in that august organisation

The IAVI is trying to root out rogue auctioneers - not that there are any in that august organisation. IAVI president Wendy Jane Catherwood has urged the Government to increase the value of the bond required to practice as an auctioneer. Currently, anyone without a criminal record and £10,000 in their back pocket can put up a brass plate and start trading. Ms Catherwood wants that figure raised to at least £50,000 to bring it into line with inflation over the past 25 years.
