With a temperamental summer and the sales in full swing, our go-to shops are already looking ahead to autumn. New season shopping has that exciting, back-to-school feel with the promise of new style delights and sartorial inspiration, and we got to see that first hand at the Arnotts autumn/winter press show this morning.

1. The Camel Trouser

There’s a reason why classic camel is the must-have neutral in outwear form; it’s more exciting than basic black or cool grey and it goes with every colour and pattern from hot pink to leopard print.

3. The Cape

No longer just for superheroes, the cape has had a fashionable turn on the catwalks again for autumn ’15. Considered by some as just a fleeting trend, it’s here to stay and never has it been so covetable.

4. The Faux Fur Stole

Come autumn, the faux fur stole will be an indispensable accessory. It will function as a scarf, neck shield, make shift hat for the sartorially brave and an emergency extra shoulder-cover for when you didn’t think it would be that cold.

5. The Winter Dress

The perfect autumn dress can be hard to find, but there’s no need for it to fall in line with your usual dark wintery hues of navy, black and grey. Get colourful.
