Go Gaga for the new Tiffany ad

She may not the first person to come to mind when thinking about this luxury jewellery brand, but Lady Gaga has been unveiled as the face of Tiffany & Co’s latest campaign. The 60-second ad will preview in what has become the most sought- after TV slot of the year, at the Super Bowl this Sunday, February 5th. The campaign, shot by David Sims with creative director Grace Coddington, is said to “embody the strength and spirit of the modern woman”. The collection, inspired by a unisex bracelet from 1971 in the Tiffany Archives, will be available on tiffany.com on May 2nd (with limited pre-orders available from tomorrow) and in-store worldwide on April 28th. Kerry raincoat in Ventile

Ventile is the name of a high-performance, waterproof cotton fabric developed for military use in the 1930s and 1940s and still used by pilots in Tornado jets for comfort and protection. The New York-based Irish designer Petria Lenehan has put it into action for her Kerry raincoat in shades of green, navy or coffee. Both practical and stylish, the raglan-sleeved raincoat comes with a generous hood, is fly-fronted with horn buttons, and zip fastening with button through storm flap and storm gusset detail on the cuffs. Find it in Scout in Temple Bar. For further details, call the shop at 01-6778846 or visit scoutdublin.com. – DMcQ

Sibling’s ‘mixed gender’ collection

This silk brocade trouser suit is from Sibling's "mixed gender" collection shown at London Men's Fashion Week recently in collaboration with Toni & Guy. More popularly known for their inventive ways with fibre, zany colours and quirky knitwear, the latest show featured blown-up mosaic, wave and tribal patterns on wool jumpers and silk dresses, graphic prints that have also migrated on to seven of Toni & Guy's haircare and styling products. Sibling has Irish roots too; co-founder Cozette McCreery's ancestors came from Clare Island and a few years ago the brand revisited Aran knits in a fresh and breezy way. McCreery also posed for Lucian Freud in 2003 for his painting Irish Woman on a Bed (not currently included in the Imma Freud exhibition). – DMcQ

Simone Rocha opens first US store

On Sunday week, February 12th, Simone Rocha will open her first store in the US, a big move for the Irish designer and confirmation of her growing status worldwide. It follows the opening of her Mayfair boutique in London in August 2015. The new store in a downtown area of Manhattan will mix art and craft, featuring her fashion collections and signature Perspex furniture, sculpture and handmoulded floral cornicing. Other selected pieces of art on display include works by Louis Bourgeois, Robert Rauschenberg and Ren Ri, along with furniture by John Rocha and Jo Colombo. The first window display in the Wooster Street store is inspired by Southwark Cathedral, her spring-summer 2017 venue, and to coincide with the store opening, she has created a limited edition book that will feature the work of inspirational collaborators and artists, including photographers Perry Ogden, Niall O Brien and Roni Horn and newly commissioned works by Jackie Nickerson and Jacob Lillis. – DMcQ
