BAFTA 2015: red carpet hits and misses

From plunging necklines, to 1970's styles, winter whites and pretty pastels; the BAFTA 2015 red carpet was a pretty mixed bag.

Julianne Moore, with an expected win for Best Actress for her work in Still Alice, looked stunning in a Tom Ford dress with a plunnging neck-line. A 1970s influence was clear, especially in the top-half of this dress with the thick collar band and use of velvet.

David Beckham, attending his first BAFTA awards sans Victoria, presented the OutstandingBritish Film award to the cast and crew of The Theory Of Everything, and looked as handsome as you would imagine in Tom Ford.

Reese Witherspoon is rarely seen in full length, and more the pity as she was the picture of elegance in British designer Stella McCartney. Witherspoon also opted for a daring plunging cut, and with a 1970's purple that stood out from the crowd, we hope to more of this side of the actor.

It seems pregnant Keira Knightley can do no wrong of late, and was glowing in Giambattista Valli with husband James Righton.

Unbroken actor Jack O'Connell won the Rising Star Award whule looking dapper in Prada

Rosamund Pike went for a classic black dress by Roland Mouret, we wonder whether perhaps she was playing it a little safe after her last awards outfit slip up.

We're unsure about this tasseled gown dress on Amy Adams. While the concept is right, the dress is too long on her small frame and while we love winter whites the lack of colour does little for her skin tone.

Actor Romola Garai brought a much needed pop of colour to the awards in a Roksanda Illncic top and skirt. The 1970s influence is clear once again here and the upturned cuffs on that shirt are a little bit of heaven.

The Theory of Everything actor Felicity Jones wore vintage Dior haute couture and joined Professor Stephen Hawking on stage to hand out the award for Best Visual Effects.  While on stage Jones annouced that it was her "pleasure to present this award with the only man cleverer than Stephen Fry," to which Hawking quipped, "Yes, and better looking".

Cumberbatch arrived with his pregnant fiance Sophie Hunter and wearing Alexander McQueen. The Imitation Game actor lost out on the Best Actor award to Eddie Redmayne.

Lea Seydoux and Monica Bellucci, the recently announced new Bond film female leads,  turned heads on the red carpet in Prada and Alaia. Though quite why they hung on to each other so tight in a all the photos remains a mystery.

Laura Bailey is a cultural ambassador for the British Fashion Council and contributing editor at British Vogue. She is also completely beautiful in this high-neck, crisp white Emilia Wickstead gown. The slicked back hair, the delicate jewellry, the cut and fabric of the dress; this could be our favourite look of the night. We also love Julie Walters floor length, sequined gown. Who says sequins are only for Christmas?

Hunger Games actor Sam Claflin and his wife Laura Haddock shone as the most stylish couple of the night. Hoddock's Ashli Couture gown could have been deemed "too tutu" for an awards cememony however, this was offset with the washed out grey hue and the slicked back hair. Bonus points for the paired back make-up.
