Woman dies following Cork house fire

A woman in her 60s has died following a house fire in Cork.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire in Togher shortly before 6.15am on Friday.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported and it is understood no foul play is suspected.

Fire services extinguished the blaze, secured the site and a technical examination of the scene has been completed.

The deceased was taken to the local mortuary for a postmortem examination.
