THIS exhibition was chosen by Coilin Murray, and the 25 works slightly tax the hanging resources of the Original Print Gallery in Temple Bar, whose space is limited. The range is predictably wide, both in styles and media, though Murray notes in a brief catalogue introduction that there is no lithogaphy - a fact which he regrets, as I do.
The etchings of Silvia Nevada Roca have landscape connotations and are technically of real sophistication, involving a mesh of fine lines woven together with virtuosity. Colin Martin's etchings of figures in indoor settings are almost expressionist in colour and theme, while Andrew Folan continues his obsession with tables and chairs.
Stephen Vaughan deals in contrasting rhythms and patterns, handling these with much aplomb although the final result is rather static, almost decorative. Mo Levy, Mary Fitzgerald, Nickie Hayden in their very differing ways all register in a show of prismatic contrasts, which runs the gamut of many styles and technical effects, but somehow just lacks the impact of one genuinely powerful, dominant personality.
